Dear guests and friends, Renske and Werner ‘from the mountain’ have arrived in Savognin. Since September 1st, we have been at the Hotel Piz Mitgel, the historic house from 1868.
It was purchased by the Piz Mitgel Foundation in 2021 and completely renovated. Charming rooms, the two restaurants, a cozy fumoir, and a beautifully laid-out terrace invite you to relax. The Art Nouveau hall, with up to 150 seats, is the perfect place for celebrations and events. Here, at this historic location, Renske is your hostess, and currently, Werner is working in the kitchen.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Hotel Piz Mitgel at some point. The following two events would be ideal opportunities to get to know the hotel.

The ‘Piz Mitgel Val Surses Foundation’ aims to preserve the socially and historically valuable Hotel Piz Mitgel, which is characteristic of the local landscape, to safeguard it for future generations and lead it into the future.
There are things that must not be lost and are worth working together to preserve. This stems from the belief that Hotel Piz Mitgel should continue to remain open as a hospitable establishment for everyone, and in the future, cultural events should be able to take place in the Art Nouveau hall – a testimony from the era of emerging tourism at the beginning of the twentieth century. With your support as a donor, we ensure that the story of Piz Mitgel continues.
We would like to express our gratitude to Regina and the late Seppi Waldegg, who devoted over six decades to serving Savognin and its hotel guests. We are delighted to continue the hospitality of the ‘Waldeggs’.

New Hostess
I’m excited for the new challenge ahead. Starting in September 2024, I will be your hostess at the traditional Piz Mitgel hotel in the center of Surses. After many years in the hospitality industry, I found my way to Savognin. For ten years, I ran the mountain house Piz Platta on Alp Flix with my husband, ‘Werner vom Berg.’ Now, I am thrilled to welcome you to Piz Mitgel. Together with Thomas Nussbaumer as restaurant manager and Werner as our head chef, we aim to ensure you feel completely at home here. Looking forward to seeing you soon, with culinary greetings,
